Switching from HireHop, Oct 2026
Thinking of leaving HireHop?
HireHop is UK cloud rental software for AV and events, broadcast and production, and plant and tool hire. If you’re reviewing your options, here’s how to take your data out first, what RiQ (pronounced “Rick”) offers, and where HireHop may still suit you better. Facts about HireHop come from its own homepage, features page and help blog, checked 22 Oct 2026. RiQ is waitlist-only and onboarding in stages, tool and plant first.
Export your data before you decide anything
HireHop’s help blog says you can export your hire stock from the Hire Stock Management page: create an export key, filter the view (or leave it unfiltered for everything), then choose Menu and Get data link. The link returns your current view as CSV, XML or JSON, with name, image link, quantity, category, weight, dimensions, prices and part number. Your user permissions must allow it. HireHop’s features page says its reports, transaction logs, invoices and ledger records export to CSV or Excel too.
- Hire stock, using Get data link with all depots
- Stock, utilisation and maintenance reports, to CSV or Excel
- Invoices and transaction logs, to CSV or Excel
- Open and future jobs, so nothing is missed at cut-over
Know what you pay for today
HireHop publishes its plans on its homepage. Starter is for one user at no charge, with quotes, bookings, customer management and basic stock control. Professional is charged for each user and adds multi-depot setup, reports and dashboards. Enterprise is priced on application. HireHop adds UK VAT to its prices. Count the people who log in each week, and check whether route planning credits or other extras appear on your invoice, before you compare. RiQ has bolt-ons too: invoicing and WhatsApp on Tier 3, and barcode scanning and route planning as bolt-on apps.
- Count the people who log in each week
- List any extras on your current invoice
- Note which depots and reports you rely on
Customers book online, on your own domain
RiQ gives you a booking storefront on your own domain with your own branding, and the hire website is Tier 1 itself. Customers see live availability and the price, then book and pay. HireHop offers a webshop you can embed in your existing website or have HireHop host, for online quote requests and bookings, and a WordPress plugin, so the bigger question is how much of the website you want to run yourself.
- Storefront on your own domain and branding
- Live availability on every product
- Card payments, deposits and pre-auths
- Bookings land in your RiQ account
Booking built for UK tool and plant hire
RiQ was built running live tool and plant hire at National Tool Hire and Mammoth Hire. Required items and damage waiver are added at checkout, deposits are taken up front, and inspection records sit on the asset. If your work is mostly tool and plant hire booked online by trade and retail customers, ask us how RiQ handles your jobs.
- Live availability, bundles and required items
- Damage waiver and hire-insurance lines
- PAT, LOLER and PUWER records on the asset
- Off-hire, exchange, extension and partial returns
Where HireHop may suit you better

It has deep roots in AV and events, with crew management, live scanning by barcode, QR, NFC and RFID, a driver app, and accounting links such as Xero, QuickBooks Online and Sage. RiQ is waitlist-only and onboarding tool and plant first, so if you run AV or event hire, or need to start this week, HireHop may be the better fit for now.
