Switching from HireLogic, Oct 2026
Thinking of leaving HireLogic?
HireLogic is UK equipment hire software for independent hire businesses, with optional retail, workshop and online booking modules. If you’re reviewing your options, here’s what to take out first, what RiQ (pronounced “Rick”) offers, and where HireLogic may still suit you better. Facts about HireLogic come from its own UK website and blog, checked 22 Oct 2026. RiQ is waitlist-only and onboarding in stages, tool and plant first.
Export your data before you decide anything
HireLogic’s FAQ says you can export your data from HireLogic at any time. Its own switching checklist gives good advice for leaving any hire system: export products and assets, customer records, open contracts, rate cards, historic invoices and compliance documents while you still have access, take them as CSV or Excel rather than PDF, and keep a copy outside the old system before you cancel anything.
- Products and assets, with serial or asset numbers
- Customer records and account settings
- Open contracts and forward bookings, so nothing is missed at cut-over
- Rate cards, historic invoices and inspection records
Keep your records readable after you leave
HireLogic says there are no long-term contracts and you can cancel at any time, though it asks you to talk to it first. Its checklist also says to keep read-only access or a complete export for as long as you need historic records for audit, compliance and warranty questions. Inspection history on lifting gear and electrical kit is the part most firms can’t afford to lose, so check it’s in your export.
- Check your notice period before you plan a date
- Keep a complete export somewhere you control
- Pick a quiet week to switch, away from month-end invoicing
Customers book online, on your own domain
RiQ gives you a booking storefront on your own domain with your own branding, and the hire website is Tier 1 itself. Customers see live availability, then book and pay. HireLogic offers online booking through an optional e-commerce website module, with round-the-clock bookings, a customer portal and instant booking confirmations, as HireLogic lists it. So the bigger question is how much of the website you want built around your hire system.
- Storefront on your own domain and branding
- Live availability on every product
- Card payments, deposits and pre-auths
- Bookings land in your RiQ account
Booking built for UK tool and plant hire
RiQ was built running live tool and plant hire at National Tool Hire and Mammoth Hire. Required items and damage waiver are added at checkout, deposits are taken up front, and inspection records sit on the asset. If most of your work is tool and plant hire booked by trade and retail customers, ask us how RiQ handles your jobs.
- Live availability, bundles and required items
- Damage waiver and hire-insurance lines
- PAT, LOLER and PUWER records on the asset
- Off-hire, exchange, extension and partial returns
Where HireLogic may suit you better
HireLogic is available now. Its homepage says most customers are up and running within 2 working days, with team training and support included. It runs retail sales and hire in one system, with an EPoS module for the trade counter and a workshop module for servicing your own kit and your customers’ equipment. It connects with Sage, Xero and QuickBooks, takes payments through Stripe and has an API. RiQ is waitlist-only and onboarding tool and plant first, so if you run a busy retail counter alongside hire, or need to start this week, HireLogic may be the better fit for now.
- Retail EPoS and workshop modules (HireLogic)
- Most customers live within 2 working days (HireLogic)
- List what you use every week before you compare
