Switching from OnRent Events, Oct 2026
Thinking of leaving OnRent Events?
OnRent Events is the new name for Current RMS, Klipboard’s software for event, AV and party hire. If the rebrand has you reviewing your options, here’s what RiQ (pronounced “Rick”) offers, and where OnRent Events may still suit you better. Facts about OnRent Events come from Klipboard’s public pages and trade press as of Oct 2026. RiQ is waitlist-only and onboarding in stages, tool and plant first.
Fully cloud-based, nothing to install
RiQ runs in the browser, so there’s nothing to install on your premises and no servers to run. Klipboard describes OnRent Events as cloud-based too, so the bigger differences are in how your customers book.
- Sign in from a browser, at the depot or at home
- No servers, installs or local backups to manage
- Data hosted in Europe
Customers book online, on your own domain
RiQ gives you a booking storefront on your own domain with your own branding. Customers see live availability and the price, then book and pay. Klipboard’s OnRent Events page describes quotes, orders, invoicing and pay-by-link through Klipboard Money; it doesn’t describe a customer booking storefront. Some public reviews of Current RMS make the same point: customers couldn’t check availability or book online without the hire firm confirming by hand.
- Storefront on your own domain and branding
- Live availability on every product
- Card payments, deposits and pre-auths
- Bookings land in your RiQ account
Booking built for hire
RiQ’s checkout was built running live hire at National Tool Hire and Mammoth Hire. Required items and damage waiver are added automatically and deposits are taken at checkout. Kits and bundles book as one line, and the Events Pack adds cases, crew lists and pull sheets.
- Live availability, bundles and required items
- Damage waiver and hire-insurance lines
- Kits and bundles
- Events Pack: cases, crew lists and pull sheets
Where OnRent Events may suit you better
OnRent Events is built for live events: Klipboard lists crew and transport scheduling, venue and timeline planning and serial-level inventory control. Klipboard says the rebrand is a name change only, with the same software, support and service commitments. RiQ started in tool and plant hire, so if crew and venue planning is the heart of your business, compare the two carefully.
- Crew and transport scheduling (OnRent Events)
- Venue and timeline planning (OnRent Events)
- List what you use every week before you compare
