Syrinx migration guide, Oct 2026
Switching from Syrinx 365, step by step.
Thinking about moving off Syrinx 365? This guide sets out what a switch to RiQ (pronounced “Rick”) involves, what to export first and where Syrinx may still be the better fit. Facts about Syrinx come from Point of Rental’s public pages as of Oct 2026. RiQ is waitlist-only and onboarding in stages, tool and plant first.
Why Syrinx users look at RiQ
Syrinx 365 runs in the cloud or on-premise. RiQ is fully cloud-based, so there’s nothing to install. Your customers book on a storefront that runs on your own domain, with a checkout built for hire. Point of Rental’s product page describes a Consumer Portal (QuikLink) for contract history, invoices and off-hire requests; it doesn’t describe a booking storefront.
- Fully cloud-based: nothing to install, no servers to run
- Online booking storefront on your own domain and branding
- Required items, deposits and damage waiver at checkout

Check the fit first
Syrinx 365 is built for complex, multi-branch hire, and can run in the cloud or on-premise. RiQ is fully cloud-based: nothing is installed on your premises and there are no servers to run. If you need an on-premise install, or depend on Syrinx modules such as commission tracking or fixed asset depreciation, check RiQ covers them before you plan anything.
- RiQ is cloud only, signed in from a browser
- Storefront on your own domain, with your own branding
- List the Syrinx modules and reports you use every week
- Ask us which ones RiQ covers today, and which it doesn’t
Export your data
Point of Rental says Syrinx 365 reports export to Excel or PDF. Before you switch, pull the records you’ll need into spreadsheets, and keep a copy of everything for your own records. Your contract with Point of Rental sets out notice periods and data access, so read it early.
- Fleet and assets, with serial numbers and depots
- Customers, sites and trade account terms
- Rates, including agreed customer rates
- Open hires, deliveries and collections
- Inspection and service history (LOLER, PUWER, PAT)
Bring it across
We’ll help bring across your fleet, customers, rates and open hires. Expect to check the mapped data yourself: depots, categories and rate bands rarely line up one to one between two systems.
- Map depots, categories and rate bands
- Check a sample of assets and customers by hand
- Set up card payments, deposits and accounting sync
- Connect Xero, QuickBooks or Sage if you use them
Run both side by side
You can run Syrinx 365 and RiQ side by side until you’re confident. A common pattern is to take new hires in RiQ while existing contracts finish in Syrinx, then move the rest across in one go.
- Pick a cut-over date for new hires
- Let open contracts finish in the old system
- Train the counter, drivers and workshop first
- Switch off the old system only when the books match
