Compressor & air tool hire software
Compressor hire software, examined, recorded, sent out.
A towable compressor goes out with hoses, a breaker and a box of steels, and as its owner you hold the pressure system duties for as long as it is in your fleet. RiQ (pronounced “Rick”) keeps the examination reports, the kit and the invoice on one hire. Fully cloud-based, with nothing to install on your premises.
The owner of a mobile system holds the duties
Under the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000, which apply in Great Britain, a compressor that can be readily moved between sites is a mobile system, and the duties sit with its owner rather than the customer using it. The owner must not operate it or allow it to be operated without a written scheme of examination drawn up or certified by a competent person (regulation 8), must have it examined within the intervals in that scheme, and must mark the date of the next examination legibly and durably on the machine (regulation 9(9)). No person may supply a mobile system for operation after that date unless a further examination has been carried out (regulation 9(6)). The duty stays with you; RiQ keeps the evidence to hand. Examination reports sit on each asset in the workshop record, and the Certificates & Inspections app sends records to the customer with every hire.
- Examination reports and certificates on the asset
- Workshop, servicing and inspection records
- Certificates sent with the hire
- Workshop Pro: parts, labour, job cards and downtime cost
Reports kept where the fleet is run from
The owner of a mobile system must keep the last examination report, and any earlier ones that help show the system is safe to operate or can be repaired safely, at the premises in Great Britain from which its deployment is controlled (regulation 14). The regulations accept records kept in a form that can be reproduced as a written copy and is secure from loss or unauthorised interference (regulation 2(2)). If you sell a compressor, the records go to the new owner in writing (regulation 14(3)). RiQ keeps each report on the asset it belongs to.
- Records held against each asset
- Barcode / RFID Scanning app for check-out and check-in

Compressor, hoses and breaker on one booking
A compressor on its own rarely does the job. Set it up as a bundle with its hoses and the breaker, needle gun or spade that goes with it, so required items are added to every booking automatically and availability is checked for every piece. Offer steels, chisels and PPE at checkout with Upsell & Bundles Pro, and record how the kit left and came back with the Condition Photos app.
- Bundles and required items
- Add-ons at checkout (Upsell & Bundles Pro)
- Condition Photos app
- Delivery & collection planning, driver app
Trade hire, extended and returned in stages
Groundworkers and contractors keep compressors on hire for as long as the job runs, and send back the breaker before the compressor. Extend, exchange or part-return a hire with the customer’s price locked, let site managers request collection themselves, and send return reminders by SMS or WhatsApp. Customers can also book and pay online on your own domain and branding.
- Off-hire, exchange, extension and partial returns
- Trade accounts and credit terms
- Customer collection requests
- Online booking with live availability
