Fuel bowser & tank hire software
Fuel bowser and tank hire software, with the paperwork on every unit.
Site fuel bowsers and bunded tanks go out to groundworkers, contractors and events, usually alongside the generators and plant they keep running. RiQ (pronounced “Rick”) keeps the unit, its records and the invoice on one hire. Fully cloud-based, with nothing to install on your premises.
Your customers store oil under the Oil Storage Regulations
The Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) (England) Regulations 2001 extend to England only (regulation 1(1)), and a mobile bowser counts as a container (regulation 1(2)). They do not apply to a container with a storage capacity of 200 litres or less, or one situated in a building (regulation 2(2)). Oil must be stored in a container unlikely to burst or leak in ordinary use (regulation 3(1)), within a secondary containment system with a capacity of not less than 110% of the container’s storage capacity (regulation 3(2)(a)). On a mobile bowser, any tap or valve permanently fixed to the unit through which oil can be discharged to the open must be fitted with a lock and locked shut when not in use (regulation 5(2)), and a permanently attached flexible delivery pipe needs a lockable valve where it leaves the container (regulation 5(3)(c)). The offence sits with the person who has custody or control of the oil (regulation 9). RiQ keeps the information to hand: inspection records and handover paperwork are attached to every unit, so the customer gets them with every hire.
- Handover paperwork attached to every unit, every hire
- Certificates sent with the hire
- Workshop, servicing and inspection records
- Condition Photos app at handover and return
The bowser and what goes with it, on one booking
A bowser often goes out with a generator, a lighting tower or a site pump. Set these up as bundles and required items so they are added to every booking automatically and availability is checked for every piece, and offer add-ons at checkout with Upsell & Bundles Pro. Scan units out and back in with the Barcode / RFID Scanning app.

- Add-ons at checkout (Upsell & Bundles Pro)
- Barcode / RFID Scanning app for check-out and check-in
- Multi-depot availability and transfers
Long site hires on trade accounts
Bowsers tend to stay on site for as long as the job runs. Keep contractors on trade accounts and credit terms, extend, exchange or part-return a hire with the price locked, and let customers request collection themselves. The Telematics Connector brings hours, location and geofences in from your telematics partners.
- Trade accounts and credit terms
- Off-hire, exchange, extension and partial returns
- Customer collection requests
- Telematics Connector: hours, location and geofences
Delivery and collection, planned
Bowsers and tanks go out on the back of a truck, not in a car boot. Plan delivery and collection runs across depots and push jobs to drivers’ phones, with condition photos and signatures captured at handover and return, and send delivery ETAs and return reminders by SMS or WhatsApp.
- Delivery and collection planning with a driver app
- Multi-drop planning with the Route Optimiser app
- SMS & WhatsApp Notifications app
- Condition photos and signatures
