Welding equipment hire software
Welding equipment hire software, with the extraction records on every unit.
Welders, welder generators and fume extraction units go out to fabricators, maintenance teams and contractors, often as a set with leads, torches and screens. RiQ (pronounced “Rick”) keeps the units, their records and the invoice on one hire. Fully cloud-based, with nothing to install on your premises.
Your customers control welding fume under COSHH
Under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002, an employer must not carry out work liable to expose employees to a substance hazardous to health without a suitable and sufficient risk assessment (regulation 6(1)), and an employer with 5 or more employees must record its significant findings (regulation 6(4)). Exposure must be prevented or, where that is not reasonably practicable, adequately controlled (regulation 7(1)), with control of exposure at source, including adequate ventilation systems, ahead of personal protective equipment (regulation 7(3)). Control measures such as extraction plant must be maintained in efficient working order and good repair (regulation 9(1)(a)), local exhaust ventilation plant must be thoroughly examined and tested at least once every 14 months unless Schedule 4 sets a shorter interval (regulation 9(2)(a)), and a record of those examinations and tests must be kept for at least 5 years (regulation 9(4)). RiQ keeps your side of it in order: inspection records and handover paperwork are attached to every extraction unit, so the customer gets them with every hire.
- Workshop, servicing and inspection records
- Handover paperwork attached to every unit, every hire
- Certificates sent with the hire
- Condition Photos app at handover and return
The welder and what goes with it, on one booking
A welder rarely goes out alone: leads, torches, a gas regulator, welding screens and a fume extraction unit often go with it. Set these up as bundles and required items so they are added to every booking automatically and availability is checked for every piece, and offer add-ons at checkout with Upsell & Bundles Pro. Scan units out and back in with the Barcode / RFID Scanning app.

- Add-ons at checkout (Upsell & Bundles Pro)
- Barcode / RFID Scanning app for check-out and check-in
- Multi-depot availability and transfers
Shutdowns and site jobs on trade accounts
Welding kit often stays out for the length of a shutdown or a fabrication job. Keep contractors on trade accounts and credit terms, extend, exchange or part-return a hire with the price locked, and let customers request collection themselves. The Telematics Connector brings hours, location and geofences in from your telematics partners for welder generators.
- Trade accounts and credit terms
- Off-hire, exchange, extension and partial returns
- Customer collection requests
- Telematics Connector: hours, location and geofences
Delivery and collection, planned
Welder generators and extraction units are heavy and go out on a van or truck. Plan delivery and collection runs across depots and push jobs to drivers’ phones, with condition photos and signatures captured at handover and return, and send delivery ETAs and return reminders by SMS or WhatsApp.
- Delivery and collection planning with a driver app
- Multi-drop planning with the Route Optimiser app
- SMS & WhatsApp Notifications app
- Condition photos and signatures
